A Guidey alternative with no asterisk on no upsells
Guidey is one of the few guidebook tools that even talks about not showing ads, which is to its credit. The catch is that it still ships a guest-facing marketing area, so the promise comes with an asterisk. FreshLinen does not have the asterisk: a guest reading your book sees no ads, no sponsored picks, no marketing area, and nothing with a price on it, because there is nothing on the guest side to monetize in the first place.
The other everyday differences are the trial and the price. Guidey runs a 14-day trial; FreshLinen lets you build your whole book free, for as long as you like, and you pay only when you publish. Guidey prices per property; FreshLinen is $49.99 a year for your whole account, however many places you host.
Side by side
| Point of comparison | Guidey | FreshLinen |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing for sale to guests | Pledges no ads, but ships a guest marketing area | Nothing for sale, no exceptions |
| Trying it | 14-day trial clock | Free build mode, no clock, pay only to publish |
| Offline for guests | No offline guest mode | Whole book loads with no cell service |
| Price for all your properties | Per property | $49.99 a year, flat |
What about translation?
Guidey advertises guest translation into many languages on all of its plans. FreshLinen translates too: guests can read your whole book in 12 languages from a picker at the bottom of every page, and the translations are rebuilt whenever you edit, so they never drift out of date. Wifi passwords, door codes, and place names are left alone. The difference between the two is not translation; it is that FreshLinen does one job, a welcome book with nothing for sale in it, at one flat price.
